The information and data managers and subject librarians create topic- and region-specific information products and new publication services for the research area. Licence-free information products are accessible via the SWP website. The SWP press reviews, subject to licence, are available to federal ministries.

In addition, the unit's staff provide researchers with individual support in researching, analysing, and preparing literature, economic statistics and data, as well as press releases.

Together with the Digital Services and Open Science (DDOS) unit, the fact-checking of SWP publications is carried out—one of the building blocks for quality assurance at the SWP.

The Information and Data Management Unit forms part of the information infrastructure.
