Climate Policy and Politics

Climate change is considered by many states and non-state actors to be one of the most significant global challenges of the 21st century. On the one hand, greenhouse gas emissions must be drastically reduced to contain the impact of climate change. On the other hand, adaptation measures are essential to offset the adverse effects that cannot be avoided. Additionally, affected regions are increasingly having to deal with loss and damage.

This SWP dossier compiles analyses of the many challenges facing both International Climate Policy and the Climate Policy of the European Union. Particular attention is paid to the role of Carbon Management as an interface between industrial and climate policy.

An overview of SWP projects on Climate Policy can be found under the Climate Policy and Politics Research Cluster.
