Warum die Arktis für Europas digitale Unabhängigkeit zentral ist
Die EU aktualisiert ihre Arktisstrategie. Dabei wenig beachtet: Die Bedeutung der Region für kritische Infrastrukturen. Der Großteil des Datenverkehrs läuft über Unterseekabel, und die kürzeste Verbindung zwischen Europa und Asien führt durch die Arktis. Die neue Arktisstrategie ist daher eine Chance für die digitale Souveränität Europas, meint Dr. habil. Annegret Bendiek.
