Digital Services and Open Science
The Digital Services and Open Science Department (DDOS) operates at the interface between research, information infrastructure, and digital scientific practice. It supports research groups in data analysis, knowledge management, open access, and research data management, contributing to quality assurance and innovation at the SWP.
Its areas of work include, in particular, the development and application of digital methods for data preparation, analysis, and visualisation—including the development of interactive dashboards and the critical examination and use of artificial intelligence in research and the quality assurance of scientific work. This also encompasses the development and maintenance of the intranet and wiki, as well as further and advanced training in the knowledge workshop to foster the sustainable structuring and communication of institutional knowledge and key digital skills.
In addition, it offers advice on open access and research data management in accordance with FAIR principles, along with promoting the transparency and reusability of scientific work—including the provision of infrastructure for research data archiving and publication. Together with the Information and Data Management (IDM) unit, the team carries out fact-checking of SWP publications, a key component of quality assurance at the SWP.
The Digital Services and Open Science Unit forms part of the information infrastructure.
