Places where more than 10 cables arrive at one landing point or where several landing points not more than 10 km apart form a cluster where more than 10 cables arrive.
Places where more than 5 cables arrive at a single landing point or where multiple landing points not more than 10 km apart form a cluster where more than 5 cables arrive.
The data from Submarine Cable Map (https://github.com/telegeography/www.submarinecablemap.com) form the basis for the representation. These contain geodata for all landing points and information about the cables that land there. The cluster algorithm DBSCAN (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DBSCAN) was used to identify cluster of landing points. The parameters for "eps" were set to 10 kilometers and "min_sample = 10" (for category 1) or > "min_sample = 5" (for category 2).
