The German-Iranian Dialogue involves researchers from SWP and the Iranian Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) in Tehran, alongside experts from the fields of politics and administration. The discussion centres on bilateral relations, political developments in the Middle East and questions of regional security.

The German-Israeli Dialogue involves researchers from SWP and the Israeli Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) in Tel Aviv, alongside participants from the fields of politics and administration. The discussions, conducted jointly with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, centre on bilateral relations, current political developments in the Middle East and questions of regional security.

The project endeavours to allow for an in-depth and profound understanding of current and long-term trends of Israeli society and politics, the Middle East conflict, as well as Israel’s relationships to its neighbouring countries, to Germany and to the EU, as well as other relevant international players.

Jihadist networks use the internet to expand their ethnic and national base. The project »Jihadism on the Internet: The Internationalization of Violence Discourses in the World Wide Web« addressed the consequences.

Mapping Local Landscapes in the Syrian Conflict: Actors, Networks and Structures (compl.)

The project concentrates on micro-analyses and on mappings of important local dynamics and actors, ranging from armed groups over local administrative institutions and local notables to civil society actors, in war-torn Syria. Their contribution to service and aid delivery, governance, local stabilization and potential post-conflict state building are the main focus of the project.
