SWP Research Paper

SWP Research Papers are politically relevant analyses of fundamental questions and current challenges of international politics. They include response options and recommendations for political decision-makers. In most cases these are English translations of German-language studies (SWP-Studien) that have passed through a multi-stage internal review process.

SWP-Studien are generally the German original versions of the SWP Research Papers.

SWP Comments

Shorter policy papers on selected political developments that are or should be of interest to political decision-makers appear in the SWP Comments series. In most cases these are English translations of German-language papers (SWP-Aktuells), although some are original contributions published in English only. SWP Comments are internally reviewed by executive staff.

SWP-Aktuells are normally the German original versions of the SWP Comments. Certain SWP Comments appear in English only and are not translated into German.

Our journal review (SWP-Zeitschriftenschau) provides an overview and evaluation of publications of interest in selected fields. It appears in German only.

Point of View

The Point of View pieces are generally English translations from our German-language opinion format "Kurz gesagt", where SWP authors comment succinctly on current events in international politics. Occasionally Point of View pieces appear in English only.

"Kurz gesagt" are normally the German original versions of the "Point of View". Certain "Point of View" appear in English only and are not translated into German.
