Senior Fellowship Iberian Studies (compl.)

The Senior Fellowship in Iberian Studies is a joint project of SWP and the FRIDE research institute in Madrid (Fundación para las Relaciones Internacionales y el Diálogo Exterior). The fellowship’s research activities concentrate on developments in foreign, security and economic policy in Spain, Portugal and Latin America. Topics of investigation include the domestic political and economic foundations of Spain’s European policy and discourse, its interests in the EU, and its role in central European policies. Spain’s actions in the context of the Eurozone state debt crisis, and Spanish positions on the future development of the Economic and Monetary Union and possible material and institutional reforms of the EU also represent a potential research focus. Spanish and Portuguese relations with the states of Latin America in the context of the EU’s relations with the region is another. The chances and risks for German-Spanish relations are also investigated.

The Fellowship is currently held by Dr. Susanne Gratius, Senior Researcher at FRIDE in Madrid. It runs from 2013 to 2015.
